General Conference Information

SCOPE

ICFRM is the conference series that is the major forum for the exchange of information based on the research and development of fusion reactor materials. Overcoming material issues is the key to the realization of fusion energy. The scope of the conference ranges from fundamental materials science to search for engineering materials in-service performance. The papers will be presented as invited and contributed oral and poster presentations. A special program will be planned to encourage young scientists.

PUBLICATION
Papers submitted will be peer reviewed to a high standard. Accepted papers will be published in special volumes of the Journal of Nuclear Materials.

LANGUAGE
The working language of the conference is English.

CALL for ABSTRACT
Abstract of no more than 250 words must be submitted electronically by January 15, 2009. On-line information and abstract submittal website:
http://www.icfrm-14.com
Acceptance of an abstract for presentation will be based on a rigorous review. Abstracts that fall outside the scope of the conference, or describe previously reported results, or do not demonstrate a high standard will be rejected.
Submissions by graduate students describing their work will be encouraged.
The accepted abstracts will be distributed at the conference.

CONFERENCE VENUE
All conference activities will be held at the Sapporo Convention Center in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. Several hotels are located close to the conference center. There are frequent domestic flights from Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and others in Japan, and international direct flights from Asia. Sapporo, the fifth largest city in Japan, is an ideal convention site, where you and your traveling companion can both enjoy its charms with the majesty of a stunning natural environment. Most of the city's accommodations and facilities are within walking distance. Tourist organizations will help with room reservation.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
Social activities will include a welcoming reception and a banquet. Special programs to help participants and their guests enjoy Sapporo and vicinities will be available.

VISA APPLICATION
International visitors requiring Japanese visa should ask the ICFRM secretariat for visa support letter via ICFRM website.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Additional information regarding the conference, registration, reservation, etc. will be posted on the ICFRM website.
